Under the mining condition of extrathick coal seam, overburden moves violently, surface is destroyed seriously, and discontinuous deformation such as cracks fully developed. Taking Datong area an example, this paper studies analyzes development characteristics generation mechanism in loose layer covered bedrock exposed by means field measurement similar model experiment. In area, there no main crack. The width, length, number, step drop are relatively small. There many with same scale distributed evenly parallel. However, mainly located above open-off cut stoppage line side that deviated from working face. secondary around crack, a large crack density few outer edge Through research, it found three faces belong to typical three-zone mode fracture consistent O-ring distribution theory. This research’s results can provide theoretical technical support for follow-up land remediation ecological restoration.
